So many of you have asked how and where you can donate to help with expenses. As of this morning there is a Memorial account set up for Seth at America First Credit Union. Into Heaven's Arms

Today, the 19th day of May, Seth Charles Bollschweiler finished his fight on the earth and returned to his Father in Heaven. He was at home, where he was promised he would be, with his, mom, dad and siblings, the people in the world he loved the most. He was at peace, and spent a few minutes with open eyes, being reassured by his mom and I am certain he was reassuring her with volumes of peace through his beautiful blue eyes.

There will never in my lifetime be enough words to express the love and gratitude I have felt from the outpouring of love for this little family. I also feel impressed to share my absolute assurance of the eternities and that I know we can all be with our little Sethman again. There is peace in my soul and I pray there is peace in yours.

We anticipate we will be having the funeral on Monday, with a viewing Sunday evening. We will post details as soon as we have them.

Sitting with an Angel

Just a quick post tonight....

We just returned from sitting with Seth for a while. It was a very sweet experience to be in his presence. He is weak in body, but his spirit is growing stronger by the second. Family members were able to gather tonight to spend a few moments with him and it was precious.

We ask for your prayers (as always) that there be an intense out pouring of peace and comfort come over his family at this time. Darin, Shannon, Corbin, Jenna and Seth, I love you all and may you have peace this night.

The Jazz Bear

WOW!!! What a great memory we will have after this event! The Utah Jazz mascot...aka "Bear" made a very special visit to Seth today. It started by greeting Corbin and Jenna when they got off the bus....well sorta, Jenna didn't get on the bus...but we'll get to that. When the school bus pulled up the Bear van sped towards it lights and sirens going and out jumped the Bear...from the TOP! Kids started getting off the bus and the Bear hugged the all! The coolest part for me was Corbin getting off and arms in the air yelling..."this is freakin' awesome!" Then we watched for Jenna to get off....soon realizing she was never on the bus! So, Bears driver put Corbin, Darin, and Bear in the van and sped off to the school to get Jenna. Lights and Sirens blaring and picked her up! It was fun. When they finally arrived home, Bear quietly came in the house and immediately went to Seth's side. Seth has had a bit of a rough day today, but I felt like the Bear calmed him some. He brought Seth a Boozer Jersey...in his size that was personally autographed especially for Seth. He also brought bags for the kids with shirts, balls, mini Jazz bears, and a wrist band and hat. It was adorable. Bear sat with Seth for a LONG time. He held his hand and just calmed the room. It was special....I wish you could have all been there!

As for the rest of the day....just resting, hand holding and a little one on one time with those around him. I can't begin to express my love and appreciation for all the kindness you are all showing Seth at this time. He is a fighter, strong and brave. I believe it has been one of life's greatest privileges to be his Aunt! Hang tough little buddy! I love you to infinity and beyond!

A big bunch of THANKS!

What can I say...SO many wonderful people doing so many wonderful things! This post is so sweet! I was trying to make a list of all the small and simple acts of kindness that have been shown in the past couple of days....but the list is endless! What amazing people there are! Seth has been working with the Make-a-Wish foundation for a couple of months. Although he was not able to realize his first wish, they have continued to work with him and have worked to find something to be fun for him. The day Seth left the hospital he was showered with Buzz Lightyear gear from ear to ear! Disney's Pixar was willing to arrange a private screening of Toy Story 3 for him, but some logistical dilemmas with location and getting Seth around pushed that aside. However, the foundation came out to Seth's house last night and installed a new big screen TV in front of Seth's bed. He does like to watch movies and what better way than on a new BIG TV. Thank you Make-a-Wish.....that was great!

Also, Seth has a home health nurse that has helped with his care in the past and she has arranged for Seth to see How to Train a Dragon in a theatre by his house in a nice hospital bed. It will be so much fun for him to go to the movies with his family!

There are meals coming into the family for dinner and many many acts of kindness to help during this time for the family we can't begin to thank everyone individually, nonetheless, we are thankful.

So many of you have asked what can you do to help. We have always been very supported by your prayers and faith and ask you continue to pray for Seth and our family during this time. In addition, if you would like to contribute to Seth's fund, there are still medical expenses as well as future expenses coming that will need to be met. You can make donations by following the link on this blog through PayPal. If you have any questions or would rather contact me directly for more information, please feel free to do so at dtwebarker@msn.com.

A day at the park and Family Pictures

Today Seth and his family went to Murray Park! What a beautiful day it was! He got to ride in his chair for a bit and then he posed for a MILLION pictures with his family! A friend and photographer offered to do some family photos for Seth and what a treasure they will be. Thanks a million Janae (Memories by Janae)! I can promise her pictures will be better than mine...but I didn't want you to have to wait for the professional ones....these are a sneak peek!

Seth also made a stop at Grandma and Grandpa Bollschweilers house where he spent some time letting his cousins see him and of course....more pictures!

He is home now and after a few moments of struggling he is in bed resting with dad! We love you Seth...your so amazing! And by the way, I have NEVER seen eyes like this little guys, they are so darling!

Home Sweet Home

Today Seth came home! He was welcomed by his brother and sister, Grandma and Grandpa Bennion and me :)! He seemed pretty worn out from the event, but I actually believe he looked happy to be home. Once the excited settled a bit, his home health nurse came by and helped get his feeds and IV's hooked up and going. He also had a visit from "dave" the oxygen guy to get his oxygen set up and going. I spent a couple of minutes talking to him and it was pure bliss! He actually smiled and I can't say there was anything better about my day! What a privilege!

Enjoy the pictures.....More updates to come as him at home adventure begins! Thanks to all for your support and prayers as we are hoping to make this time with him pack-full of many, many wonderful memories!

A Fighter's Fight.....

This is one of those times that I am CERTAIN, no matter what I write, it won't come our right, it won't feel right and it won't be right. So please read with patience as I try and get through this.

Last night Shannon and Darin were given the preliminary results to a lumbar puncture and Bone Marrow Aspirate. The news was not good and not what we have been hoping to hear. There is infection in the spine (spinal meningitis) and a lesion of some sort (most likely infection) on the base of the brain. Also, there are leukemic blasts forming. Seth has had some noticable changes in his 'attitude' and looking back we can see why now. He hasn't really interacted much with anyone and seems to have moments of complete confusion and frustration that are hard to work through. This is all reflective of what the test results show. Darin and Shannon are going to take Seth home. Most likely this will happen on Monday, perhaps Tuesday. He will continue to be given medication to try and fight the infection and will have medication available to manage the pain. He will be able to spend time at home with brother and sister, mom and dad and family. We do not know how long this precious little boy will be in our presence, however, we are determined to love every minute we have with him and make them all count. I know there are a lot of questions, and some have answers, some don't. But bottom line is Seth has fought a fighter's fight and he is going to go home to enjoy his family.

I can't begin to describe my heartache. As most of you know I am Seth's aunt. I can attest to MANY MANY acts of kindness in this families behalf and they have not gone unnoticed. As some of my siblings and I gathered around our brother last night to lend support, I was overcome with a feeling of gratitude for family and all that it means. I was also able to spend some one-on-one time with Seth and I want you all to know what an absolute angel he is. Truly in every sense of the word that little man is an angel. His eyes are bright and clear and he is mindful of the love that surrounds him. He allowed me the privilege of holding his little hand for awhile and I was able to talk to him and tell him how much he is loved. It is a moment I will treasure forever.

I will continue to update this blog...perhaps on a more regular basis now to keep you updated on the fun times Seth will be enjoying with his family. I only ask that you send your comments if you feel prompted and if any of you have picture of Seth with our without his family I would sure love a copy...you can email me at dtwebarker@msn.com.

You are an amazing group of friends and family. Your prayers are heard and felt and we are grateful for the kindness you've shared and continue to share with our family at this time. God Bless you for it!

The little guy keeps fighting....

There is not much to update at this point, but I know some of you check this for updates! Seth is still showing infection....dang-it! At this point in time it is still a battle to rid his little body of the infection. When I visiting him last weekend he let me lay my head by his and I talked to him for a few minutes. He didn't talk back, but he didn't scream NO either! I asked him if he was a tough boy, if he could keep fighting hard to get rid of that nasty infection and if he could stay tough! Again, he didn't scream no, so I took it as a yes!

I have been recently reminded that miracles abound all around us every minute of everyday if we will look for them! So I decided to do that as I can count MANY miracles this day from our families 'go' on this trial we are riding. Seth brightens Everyone's day. He makes us want to be a little kinder to one another and to help each other a little more. What a treasure. I am praying for yet another miracle on Seth's behalf, that he will have the strength to fight! Send that nasty infection away and get his strength back!

I love you little man! Your AWESOME! Heavenly Father is right beside you, sending strength, comfort and peace!

Bone Marrow Aspirate Results.....

I must start this update with a HUGE THANK-YOU! I cannot express enough gratitude for all the support we received this last weekend at the Yard Sale. It was amazing! Thanks for your donations, you time, your willingness to help and your purchases :) It makes a huge difference!

As for updates on what's happening in Seth's world, here's basically what I know. The Bone Marrow Aspirate results are back and they show a completely empty bone marrow. The good of this is no leukemic cells, the bad is no white blood cells and he needs good white blood cells to fight off the infections currently plaguing his body. No leukemic cells is good, VERY good but the doctors need to see what type of cells are going to grow back... BAD Leukemic cells (MYELOID BLASTS) or GOOD Neutrophil cells (healthy, strong, infection fighting white blood cells) The last round of Chemo did take him down and he is having a hard time with count recovery. With every round of chemo it will take longer and longer to recover, so we aren't surprised, with the infections we realize how important it is for him to get the good cells charging and fighting. From what I understand, we really need to see the results from a Bone Marrow Aspirate once he starts to build a Count. This will show if there are any "blasts" forming, if he is in complete remission or at-least closer to achieving remission. I don't know when this will be.

As for the infection, he has been fighting something called 'enterococcus bacteria'. They have done CT scans, ultrasounds and other test's to try and locate the infection, but as far as I know, they still haven't. They are hitting him with a variety of anti-biotic and such, but they are designed to work with your own immune system, so without one, it is tough work to fight this infection.

That is what I know....please pray for an end to this infection, a count to start building and a remission! We love you all and thank you for your support!

btw: We would love to know whose (if anyone :} is reading this blog, feel free to leave a comment! Thanks!

Test day....

Today around 3:00 pm Seth will be having a Broviac placed and a Bone Marrow Aspirate. He was running another fever last night and his heart rate was out of whack again. We have a lot of anticipation regarding these test results and would greatly appreciate your prayers!

It should be about two days for the test results to come in. I will update when I know what the next step is! Thanks for your love and support!

An evening with Seth.....

I had the privilege of spending the evening with Seth. It began with a field trip to the Ultra-sound room. The wagon ride was nice, but getting Seth and all his tubing where it needed to be was somewhat comical for me! The Ultra-sound was to check a spot on his chest where the Broviac was that seemed to be a bump. In fact there is a pocket of fluid there and tomorrow his team will meet and discuss what to do. The idea is this may be the source of the infection. Stay tuned.....we should know tomorrow if and what they plan to do.

Other than our field trip, it was a pretty un-eventful night. It took a lot out of Seth to go for a ride and he slept most of the time. He has had the feeding tube put back in and so eating is no longer something he really wants to do. (Not that he was eating much before).

Sethman is such a fighter and I am amazed at his will! As I sat with him tonight I was emotional with the thought of what a gift this little guy is to me. I know as a family we have been strengthened and unified through this trial. His nurse tonight commented on the amount of extended family Seth has with him all the time, as well as his mom and dad. She said it was so awesome. What can I say to that? I do have an amazing family! Once you spend some time with Seth, you can't wait to get back up to the hospital and see him again!

The pictures I choose tonight are representative of what my prayer is for Seth.....lets get you from sleeping to eating!

As always, we want to thank you all for you love and support! I know your prayers are giving us the strength to carry-on. We are moving into the 11th month of hospital stays and your willingness to help and contribute have been so comforting. Please feel free to email me with questions, comments, or if you are wanting to know how to help with the yard sale or other opportunities at: dtwebarker@msn.com.
Keep praying for our Seth! Love you all!

Tough as Nails.....

I feel like its time for an update....problem is, I don't really know what to say! Seth has an infection. He came down with it about a week or so ago. They ended up pulling out his Broviac line with the hope that would help clear the infection. So far that has not happened. He also had an EKG to check for infection in his heart....it was all clear. So he is still fighting an infection and it really seems to be taking a toll on his little body. He has no white count and the doctor explained all the antibiotics they are administering are designed to work with your white blood cells...since Seth doesn't have any, we are praying the antibiotics will kick in and do their job, without a white count.

Please pray that this tough little guy can fight this infection, and regain a white count. I know a break from that hospital would do everyone a world of good....especially Seth! Thanks for your prayers!

We are still planning to have a HUGE yard sale, Bake sale, and boutique on Saturday, April 17. If you would like to help, have any items you wish to donate, or items for a bake sale or boutique, please contact me at dtwebarker@msn.com.
Thanks, Tammy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETH!!!!

Tonight was a night of memories! Seth turned the big 3 and what a party we had! Of course, other than Corbin and Jenna, no one under 14 was allowed to come...hmmm maybe that's why it was fun :) Just kidding! Seth looked great! He was up and dressed and cruising around a conference room eating Hersey's Kisses. It was good to see. He was really REALLY excited to eat Pizza! And even more excited to see his Brother and Sister. Just after they arrived, he was ready to go back to his room for a rest and we wanted Corbin with him. I got a couple of pictures with them laying in Seth's bed. SO CUTE! Seth sure misses Corbin and Jenna and it was great for them to see him there!

I think Seth was a bit overwhelmed by the singing however. The amazing nurses came in to sing to him and he screamed! But he screamed when we sang to him later too...so don't take it personal nurses! We love the nurses! They were/are amazing with Seth!

Seth got some great toys to play with and what fun he had with a Nerf Ball gun! It was a little dangerous in there at times! Enjoy the pictures! Thanks for the love and prayers!

An evening with Seth..and getting ready to turn 3!

Last night I had the privilege of spending time with Seth. I can't begin to explain the joy this little guy can bring someone. He is amazing (and the nurses agree). Apparently earlier in the day Seth got sick and lost his stomach a few times. During which time he lost his feeding tube. So, with no feeding tube we had to endeavor actual food. Let me just say.....he was AWESOME. He wanted Cheese Ravioli and ate really well! He drank some milk and later ate some of an Ice Cream Cone. Hopefully he can keep eating and stay off the feeding tube.

He is receiving two types of Chemo this round. One is Ara-C and he has had that all along. One thing different this time is he is getting it continuous through and IV for 7 days. (today is day 4). The other one is Idarubicion (sp?) and he got that one for 3 days. They are monitoring his heart and as of last night he looked good. He is such a fighter and has a very determined attitude.

So...we have 3 more days of Chemo. I don't know what the plan is after that just yet, but they will be checking bone marrow at some point in the coming weeks and then the Doctors will determine what's next. I also wanted to let everyone know Seth has a birthday coming up on the 25 of March and will be turning 3. I thought it would be fun to take up some fun card/pictures to hang in his room so if you (or your children) would help that would be great! It is great to be able to "change his scenery" every now and again!

We love and appreciate your prayers and faith.

Decisions, more Chemo, and PIZZA!

Sometimes the job of updating the blog really isn't so great......today would be one of those days. First and foremost, prayers are vital and miracles happen, faith is the key. We are praying, we believe in miracles and are trying to keep up our faith during these very trying times. Also please remember I update to the best of my knowledge and may get something not quite right, but I do the best I can with keeping up on everything and try to give the most accurate information I can. It seems to be changing so fast right now I feel a need to update sometimes as soon as I hit "publish post". Thanks for your patience :)

Seth has received two rounds of Chemo since relapse. They have been unable to achieve remission with either dose. He has received injections of chemo directly into his spine and also through IV's. After yesterdays test results the Doctors told Darin and Shannon they would get back with them in a day or two with the next step. This evening they were presented with the option to go ahead with another round of Chemotherapy. Seth also had a feeding tube put in today to help build much needed strength he will need for this next round. And apparently from the picture we were sent tonight....there is always room for pizza! WAY TO GO SETH!!!
Obviously there is a lot riding on this round. It should be noted that the Doctors would not present this option of there wasn't any hope of possibility for it to work. So, we again ask for your faith and prayers.

Please pray for Seth, Darin, Shannon, Corbin and Jenna. Anyone who is able and willing to put Seth's name in the Temple would be much appreciated. We as a family are so grateful for the love, support and prayers. There have been many tender mercies shown to us during this time and we are ever grateful.

Test Results....

On Monday, Seth had a bone marrow aspirate to check progress. Today we got the results from those tests. Currently Seth has 38% myeloblasts...just prior to this round of Chemo he was at 44%. We are cautioned to not compare these two numbers as the tests were taken at different times during the treatment cycle. This is certainly not the news we were hoping for from these tests.

Darin and Shannon met with the Doctor and have been told they are networking with Doctors around the country to determine what the next best step is for SethMan. We can expect to hear in the next day or two. Of course I will update as soon as I hear. Lots of hugs and kisses going Seths way today; and of course prayers!

CT Scan.....

I honestly don't really know how to update this information as it really isn't conclusive. I'll give it a try; bear with me.

Due to Seth having difficulty breathing, and not hearing anything in his lungs, it was decided he would go for a CT Scan. What was "discovered" is something on the scan that makes them concerned enough consider doing a biopsy. There is a thought that it may be a fungus; HOWEVER....it is slight and at this very moment and the risks vs. benefits of biopsy have led the Docs to hold off on a biopsy. This has changed several times through the night and may change today.....

A fungus, given his current health status would be terribly difficult to handle. They would surgically remove it. So, right now they are watching him closely and monitoring his vitals. If there is a change or if I can figure out exactly what is going on...I will update this status.

Please remember Sethman in your prayers as well as Darin, Shannon, Corbin and Jenna, times like these are emotional and hard and we know prayer can help give them comfort and strength.

Update 2/24/2010

I haven't updated for a while...mostly because I haven't had much to say....day to day life doesn't change much for little Seth, but there have been some issues as of late.

Seth received the Broviac on 2/9/2010 (I hope that's right :) . He went through his massive doses of Chemo and all was going fairly OK. Then, he got and infection. Turns out he got a Strep infection in his blood....YUCKY~! He also has been receiving a lot of blood. Never fun!

Today I am told he is doing better...That's good news! Everyone is hanging in there; Grandparents spend time there every week as wells as a couple uncles. I know all the help is greatly appreciated!

We are planning an early spring Yard Sale as a Benefit for Seth. I don't have dates, but as you start your spring cleaning keep in mind we are gathering "Stuff" for the sale. The more we have the more we can sell :) Furniture seems to be good, movies, books etc. Keep it in mind and let us know if you have things you would like to donate and we will make arrangements to get them!

Thanks for all your prayers, we appreciate all the support!

This is from Darin: SETH

Darin sent this email....this is all he knows right now. I have asked questions but the fact is right now there just aren't many answers so please read below and wait and pray with the rest of us....I will update with new information ASAP. Thanks

so here is what I know:

when Seth relapsed at Christmas his bone marrow contained about 7% "blasts" (the start of leukemic cells). after one new round of chemo he has 40% leukemic cells in his bone marrow. This is bad. the fact that it is going up is bad the fact that is went up during and after chemo is bad.

what now?

he will get 3 types of chemo this time (I don't know what they are). This will be heavier than any before. they said it will be even harder for his blood cells to recover. There is no time line right now they haven't said if it will be one more round or 10 more rounds. They don't know when they will do a bone marrow transplant.

Going back....

Today Seth is returning to the hospital today. He has a bone marrow aspirate and lumbar puncture on Wednesday to get results of the last round of Chemo. To refresh; the last round of Chemo was to be very intensified from what he was getting previously. This is normal protocol for relapsed AML. We expected his % of Leukemic cells to go down and hopefully achieve remission through this round. Unfortunately, it didn't go quite as well as we had hoped and his Leukemic cell count is 40%. Said bluntly, it didn't work like we expected. Seth is such a tough kid and is so strong and such a fighter, he is doing really well from watching him. He did not get an major infections and had no real bouts of vomiting.

So, now what? He will be hit even harder with Chemo this time around. Not necessarily the most comforting thought, but it is what is next to be done. Hopefully it will be strong enough to attack the Leukemia and get him into remission in order to proceed with the Bone Marrow Transplant.

We have greatly appreciated all the support we have received. We are planning some fundraisers in the very near future as there are continuing medical and other expenses mounting. We will post information about them as they get closer. You may also make donations to Seth on this blog through PayPal. Please continue to pray for him and his family....they are in need of the strength and the comfort prayer brings at this time! We love you all!

Surprise....

Seth is home.....He actually gets to have a small break and be home for a couple of days. His counts were coming up and he was really "healthy" so they let him go home for a couple of days before the next round of Super Chemo. What a great surprise this is!

This next round will begin Tuesday (unless it changed and I don't know :) and will mimic the first in intensity. When he returns to the hospital they will check the blood and bone marrow to see if remission has been achieved. Keep the prayers coming! I know they are helping!

Count Recovery

Seth is in count recovery. He went to "zero" rather quickly due to massive doses he is receiving. He is also receiving back pokes; which are direct shots of chemo into his spine. He is supposed to be receiving one more tomorrow.

We are waiting for an update on the Bone marrow Transplant and we won't know the actual success of the chemo until his counts come back up. So...we wait! Of course he is feeling a little pooped and low on energy, but he is a happy and darling little guy and we all love being around him!

Also, we are supporting the Riders Against Cancer fundraising dinner on Monday January 18th at the Noah's event center in Lindon Utah from 6-9pm. This is an organization that helped raise money for Seth last summer/fall. They are raising the funds to become legally recognized as a non-profit organization and to be able to continue support of Seth and his family. If you are interested in donating to them and/or attending the dinner please email darin@rimdoor.com , nick.bollschweiler@hotmail.com or brenttracy1@yahoo.com for tickets and further information.

We appreciate the support and hope you will continue to pray for our little SethMan!

Bone Marrow Transplant Meeting 1/5/2010

Today there was a meeting with the Bone Marrow Transplant team....Here is the information from that. (Beware...I think I have more questions now than before)

Starting today we have begun the 8-12 week "get" ready process for the actual transplant. During this time they concentrate on finding a Bone Marrow match, getting insurance approval etc. This process will be involved and tedious, however they already have over 100 good matches for bone marrow (based on pre-typing) and a handful of good cord blood matches. They will narrow down the matches based a certain criteria to about 5 and then re-type and test further from there.

MEANWHILE.....

Sethman needs to get in remission again. They will continue to do Chemo injections 2x's per week in the spine and once remission is achieved, they will get his counts up then start prep. therapy for transplant. Which is basically as follows: Kill all bone marrow, through major Chemotherapy, plan on that taking 1.5- 2 weeks, then transplant. This is actually done in his room and then we wait for counts to come back. This typically takes around 20 days. for the next 6-8 weeks they watch for Graft vs. Host disease. This is where it gets tricky for me. They actually want to see this as it means the body didn't automatically assimilate the Bone Marrow, rather is "rejecting it" and through another drug the body learns to accept the new bone marrow. For one year Seth will be on the medication for the transplant, but will eventually be able to be weened off.

They told us to expect to be in the hospital for 16-18 weeks, with a slight chance for a few days at home, but it didn't seem like something we should count on.

This was a TON of information and I may not have it all right, but I will update and add to what I have as I get the information. Darin and Shannon are trying to process this all right now as it is a lot to deal with, but the ball is rolling and Seth is fighting!

We are going to be posting some events for fundraising so watch for that or you can always help through paypal or any family member. The money raised so far has been such a blessing and we are grateful for any help we receive, most importantly your prayers.
